A little of me and a lot about the Authors After Dark to be con't.

OK so I have been very bad. I don't blog much. I have read some really great books. Won some fantastic books that I just loved, Lori Handeland, Heather Graham Kelley Armstrong to just mention a few.
I went to what I consider my first con. Authors After Dark. I only knew one person and that person I only met seven years ago at ALBCON. Science Fiction and fantasy. A few of us and tried to get Romance in too. Really how many of either genre doesn't have romance. We did panels and from what I remember, the panels were pretty full. I was on  a couple of them as the reader with the writers.

AAD was fun. Met a lot of really nice people, readers and writers. The writers was so nice to me. There were a couple of author that signed the book and just gave it to me because I asked questions. I will always ask if I sit in my seat. I haven't had to get up in front of my peers in years, so I think, hopefully I would not get so dry a dry mouth. It was terrible. I wouldn't stutter. There are times when I can see the word and I just can't say it even to this day.

But enough about me for now.

By the time I got to the hotel I had  a raging headache and lets not even talk about my back. I will tell you that my family Doctor now calls me mummy I have desiccated disks. Yippee for me. But I deal with it because you have to.

Back to the con, so first night I grabbed pizza when upstairs took some meds for pain took all the other meds I have take at night. But did finally fall a sleep. Got up early, I set the phone app for the alarm and it worked, Cathy Clamp was the author that I had breakfast with along with two really nice girls From Montana. It was a great breakfast, still had headache and back, forget about it. I went to the panels and if I can figure out where the spot is for pictures, I will put them up.

Hopefully I will  be back tomorrow and finish up the whole four days. I had a lot of fun and looked great with tiara and dress. I even got a compliment the next day. made me feel great.

My bed is calling me and so is my husband.

So nighty nighty all 17 readers. Tell your friends, tell anyone. Maybe it will keep me blogging

So, now its March and this is the first I've written since 1/26/13.  Shame on me. I always say that I will do better and then I don't. So I am not going to say anything about blogging more.

Nothing much going on here. I think we are going to have rain today and tomorrow but it will be warmer so I guess not to bad.

I've been catching up on my reading. I have books that I bought two years and I haven't them read them yet.  I buy authors I like and then wait to be in the mood to read them.  Like I finished a Carrie Vaughn last night and I have two more to go before her new one comes out. I read Victims by Kellerman and I am waiting for the library to get the Guilt.  I have so many books on the iPad and some on my Sony that it is crazy. Its all the free books from Kindle. I have to stop downloading them.

I have to stop reading them and get on with my writing and I am going to do that right after I finish here.
One thing that is getting me crazy is my keyboard. As I write it starts to bounce all over the place.  Very annoying. I don't know why this is happening. The mouse jumps. So if anyone knows how to fix it please let me know. Thanks.

A week from next Wednesday is going to be a big day for me. Its my birthday and I will be old. Though I feel like I am still 35 I'm not. Its sad. But time does much on.

Writing hasn't gone very far I still have so much to do. I really feel unprepared to write. I want to take a class on writing. I did do creative writing in college but that was 1996.  I am still confused about which story I want to write. I better answer it quickly because there are a couple of contests I would like to enter.

My chapter has found a new place to have our month meeting. I don't know what it is but here and NY I am more than an hour away, more like an hour and a half.  Even going to the Greenville, SC chapter is over an hour away and its early like 10 am. Now I know that its not that early but with my back it takes a little time for me to get myself together. Ah well somethings just never change.

Nationals in July. I can't wait for it. Hotel seems pretty expensive. I hate having to pay to park my car. Hopefully I will be able to share with someone.

I am looking forward to my chapters retreat in May. It will be a wonderful time I think. Must remember to bring wine. I also have a family wedding in the beginning of May in New Jersey. Don't know if I want to drive up to NY/NJ again. I was up there last May. My cousins daughter, who is already married with a baby, is having this huge reception. Everyone should have their dream. I hope its a great wedding. I want to go to see family and old friends but...my husband won't go. He has to work and someone has to take care of the animals. He is happy to remain at home.  If I do go it will be with my cousin T, we can share the drive up.

We have a new shelter dog that we are fostering. She is a big dog part golden and maybe lab. She is bigger than our dog Kirby. She was starving. All her bones were sticking out. God knows when she was last fed. and there were three other dogs with her that also went into fostering. They were living outside the home and would have either frozen to death or starved. The elderly man who was trying to take care of them just couldn't. So we have Blondie and she has gained a few lbs already and she is actually starting to play with the other dogs. Oh yeah, she didn't mess on the floor so far today and that is a big plus. Big dog, big you know what and the smell. Eek.
Just finished Kay Hoopers "The First Prophet".  I enjoyed it. I've always liked her books. This is a new series kind of. Bishop is involved with it so you know it has to do with psychics. Read it if you get a chance.

Supernatural

Here I sit on a Sunday watching the Pats play the Oilers. Its the second football game today.

I haven't been writing because I've been watching Supernatural on Netflix. Husband goes to work and there I go. I am up to season 7 getting ready to enjoy season 8. I dig this show. I also started watching Lost Girl, thats pretty good too.

So how could I be writing with my eyes glues to my lap top.  But tomorrow, clean in AM and write in PM.

Its been pretty quiet in my neck of the woods. 70 degrees today. I am loving this weather in NC.

I am hoping to go to Nationals this year. Its in Atlanta, Georgia in July. Its going to be warm.

Husband is finally finishing the kitchen. Yah!!!  Next will be the bathroom, probably ours though the guest bath really needs a do-over. From top to bottom. There is always work to do when you own a house. We will probably be in this house for another 5-10 years and then maybe an apartment or Condo. Something that is easy to take care of. But that is a while down the road.

Thats about it for tonight.

Happy New Year

Another year over and a new one starting. What shall we do with this new year? I for one will finish my WIP, enter some contests and see what happens. Those are my big plans for writing.
Now for the house; finish painting the rooms that need to be painted. Finish the kitchen by painting the cabinets and putting in the back splash and have the floors done. Not much really to do but that is the inside only. The deck needs to be sanded and stained, I guess, we don't want it painted. Paint the porch and around the windows and just make everything pretty.
I am hoping to go to Nationals this year so saving my pennies and not buying any books for January. That's hard for me but I am going to be writing so won't really have time to read. Besides I have so many free books on my iPad to read and there are books on my Sony and books on the Nook which my DH has. Plus there is God only knows how many books in the bookcases that I haven't read yet.
Do you ever get in the mood for something like a mystery or psychological thriller, or maybe something really deep to read? I do and I go through stages like that.
I think I will take the rest of the day off and start writing again on Jan. 2.
I have the doctor in the morning to have my ankle checked. Its hurts after PT but I have to stretch those tendons and get my stable on my feet. Its fun in PT when I am doing things with my right foot and depending on my left to keep me stable. Its getting better. LOL fun to watch me though.
So I think that is all I am sharing today. Need to do things around the house. DH has to work, he has evening shift. So onward and sideways here I go.

Waiting for Spring

Waiting For Spring

A little something I wrote years ago:
Though winter has only just begun, I am already longing for time of year when trees bud and flowers bloom.
Ah sweet spring, how I long for you to begin. The green carpet of grass under my feet, soft and warm. A new beginning for all living things. With the event of spring other magical happenings take place. What, you ask? Why, what every red blooded boy and girl, man and woman looks forward to the hunting, oops sorry, of  The “Mating Season”
Eyes meet across a crowded room with that come hither look, a smile, a nod and then…what?! I don’t remember! What does happen next? Its been so long since I’ve been out in that jungle, that I wouldn’t know the mating call if it hit me on the head.
I think to myself, is that guy with his shirt open to navel, gold chains  tangled in his hairy chest winking at me, or does he just have something in his eye. I hope its the latter. The fellow who is swaying to the music the DJ is playing, inviting me to join him in the dance, or is he asking my friend Bob? Maybe he is just rutting and marking his territory for all to see with an open invitation for whoever.
To catch that certain someone we strive to make ourselves more attractive by wearing the right make-up, clothes, have the perfect hair style, go to the gym, and diet that goes for men and women, make-up not excluded for men. Then to garner more attention, we improve our minds by keeping up with current events and reading the latest best sellers.
At least some people who are looking for that certain someone will attempt to keep themselves abreast of the times and not just baseball scores. We go to the hottest clubs, social events, gyms and even church with the best we have and high hopes.
And for what? You catch the eye of that good looking hunk or allow him to catch yours; he speaks, you realize he is short about 3 brain cells. What a waste of time and effort. Or is it? Men and women should be able to meet on a honest common ground, without all the trappings.
Then again, half the fun is getting to look your best and delving into the mystery that is called the” Mating Game."

How do you like it?

I wrote this in 1996 for my creative writing class.

Where have I been?

I haven't blogged since August. Shame on me. The only thing I can say is that I had a couple of surgeries and they kind of knocked me out. I was going to do so much writing while in a leg cast. Not a word did I write. So now I have a new plan to get me back to what I should be doing. I should be writing.
My husband is working full time. Poor guy retirement is not all its cracked up to be. He's working evening shift so I will write from 3 PM til 8 PM. I can start earlier and end later but this is a plan. I've cleaned out my office finally. Everything that didn't have a place was in my office. Don't tell anyone but now its in the guest room.  Bad me.

I've changed my WIP a little Brenna will not have been married before and I was thinking that she has won the lottery, the power ball. So she is loaded. What fun. Now, how should I have her spend some of that money. Any Ideas?

DH went to the NY house and took some of the stuff that was still there. Having many problems with the tenants. Hopefully they have moved out. DH said no one was there when he went to the house.  No one is answering the phone so I'm hoping there gone. They have had a free ride for the last three-four month. But enough of that.

I will try and blog more. At least once a week. Hopefully.
